From your accommodation you can experience the best of town and country in a property that is run with every care and attention to making you feel welcome and at home. Day 2

Inishbofin 35km

Day 2

Your destination this morning is the fishing village of Cleggan. This is the departure point for the ferry to Inishbofin island, your destination for tonight. Your cycle route will take you from Clifden along the Sky Road which offers panoramic sea views across the Atlantic with dropping rugged coastlines beneath you. Pausing at the vantage points you will be able to see all of Clifden Bay and its many islands stretching out before you. You will then follow the Bog Road across areas of native peatland to reach the village of Cleggan. The journey to Inishbofin is approximately 40mins. The island is peppered with ancient sites, including the ruins of Cromwell's promontory fort and gaol, set high above the crashing waves at the entrance to the island's harbour. Today the island has a population of about 200 people. Its meandering laneways, soft, sandy beaches and old stone walls contribute to the feeling of stepping back in time. Enjoy a different pace of life on the island tonight.

Day 3

Renvyle 20km

Day 3

After a morning on the island you will catch the ferry back to the mainland and Cleggan Pier where you will continue your cycle around the west coast. Your destination today is the beautiful and historic Renvyle Peninsula. Travelling quiet back roads, you will pass through Letterfrack, home of the Connemara National Park. Then your journey will take you to the Renvyle Peninsula which is steeped in history and archaeological sites & is renowned for its pristine sandy beaches and spectacular vistas of the Twelve Bens mountain range.

Day 4

Leenane 25km

Day 4

Leave Renvyle after a hearty breakfast. You will set off, passing through Tullycross with its traditional thatched cottages and meander along the coast past perfect beaches to the small village of Leenane, situated at the head of Ireland’s only fjord. You could take the Connemara Lady catamaran along Killary Fjord for a sightseeing expedition at either 10.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm or 4.30pm. This is a 1.5 hour boat ride. The trip is often joined by a pod of leaping dolphins and always includes commentary on all major points of interest along the way. Tonight you will spend the night in the small, charming village of Leenane.

Day 5

Louisburgh 30km

Day 5

You leave Leenane today and cycle through the spectacular Delphi Valley to the town of Louisburgh which is a beautiful small town and retains many 18th century features in style and scale. Louisburgh has lots of character and the surrounding townlands are packed full of history and charm. It is an area of immense natural beauty with Croagh Patrick to the east, the Atlantic to the west, the Sheaffrey and Mweelrea Mountains to the south and Clew Bay to the north. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of your surroundings and spectacular ocean views at your accommodation in the Killadoon Ocean Lodge this evening.

Day 6

Westport 25km

Day 6

Today you continue along the Clew Bay coastline and under the shadow of Croagh Patrick mountain to reach your destination in Westport. Unique and charming, the heritage town of Westport is a captivating blend of traditional and modern. From the cosiest corner of an antique pub to state-of-the-art conference facilities; from the heart-stirring beat of traditional music to the cosmopolitan approach -  contrast and paradox are just part of its charm.

Day 7

Departure

Accommodation

B&B

This second option for our Adventure Tour customers is always popular as you will get to stay in a family home where the personal touch and attention to detail is second to none. A true Irish welcome awaits you as well as home-cooked food, comfort and a taste of traditional Irish life. While you may be staying in part of the family home this does not mean that you will not have privacy and high standards of accommodation you require. Cosy rooms, modern facilities and care and attention are what these properties excel in.

3* Hotel accommodation

When you choose an adventure tour you will have the chance to stay in either hotels or B&B/guesthouse accommodation. The 3* hotels we have selected are all comfortable, well-appointed properties which also boast their own character and style. You may find yourself in a historic manor house hotel, one with a modern twist or get a 'room with a view' overlooking a shimmering Connemara lake. However they all share the same high standards of hospitality and service and will guarantee you a warm welcome, good food and a relaxing experience after your day on the road.
