Day 1

Arrival - meet your guide

Perched on the edge of the Atlantic, Clifden is where you will start your tour. Easily reached by direct bus from Galway city, you will be met at your accommodation by our local guide. They will introduce you to your bike and all equipment needed for your tour. They will also spend time going through your itinerary, routes and answering any questions you might have.

You will then have time to explore this lovely town, often called the ‘Capital of Connemara’, where cosy restaurants and traditional pubs are yours to choose from.

Day 2

Clifden to Renvyle - 35 to 45 km

Your guided journey through hidden Connemara begins with the Sky Road from Clifden - a spectacular route with vast views over the Atlantic Ocean, the rugged coast and nearby islands. Meandering along quiet back roads you will pass through the tiny fishing village of Cleggan and on to Letterfrack, home of the Connemara National Park.

Your guide will be on hand to provide you with the history of this remote area and its people as well as their stories and myths from past and present.  Your day ends on the Renvyle Peninsula which protrudes into the Atlantic boasting mountains, lakes and sandy beaches.

Day 3

Renvyle to Leenane - 26 km

Departing the next day your path from Renvyle brings you through the village of Tullycross with its thatched cottages and on along the coast past white sandy beaches to Ireland’s only fjord, Killary Harbour. The constantly evolving scenery from coast to mountain, deep lakes and colourful bogland is utterly mesmerizing. You will find your guide a wellspring of information on the landscape, flora and fauna around you.

There will be the option to take a cruise on the waters of the fjord where an informative commentary is provided along the way. You will spend the night in the village of Leenane at the head of the fjord.

Day 4

Leenane to Lough Inagh - 23 km

Leaving Leenane you will cycle towards the stunning and little-known Inagh Valley. Around you mountains soar into the sky and the road winds through native bogland and alongside still lakes. You will have the option along the way to visit one of Ireland’s top visitor attractions, the gothic abbey and Victorian gardens of Kylemore. Built in 1867 by Mitchell Henry for his wife it is a fairytale castle with award-winning walled gardens. Its location alone will stop you in your tracks and your guide will be on hand to tell you more about its long and colourful history.

Tonight you will stay in the Lough Inagh area.

Day 5

Lough Inagh to Roundstone - 28 km

You will cycle on through the haunting, deep Inagh valley today and emerge once again on the coast as you make your way towards your destination of Roundstone. You will be travelling along a route dotted with pretty fishing villages. Cycling through peat bogs and lovely moorlands still divided by the Neolithic field systems there will be plenty of hidden treasures for your guide to reveal to you. This journey will also bring you into the Gaeltacht (Gaelic speaking) region.

You will rest and relax tonight in the small picturesque fishing village of Roundstone, a haven for artists and musicians alike.

Day 6

Roundstone to Clifden - 24 km

Your final day of this tour starts with a gentle cycle along Mannin Bay. With its coralline beach & glorious turquoise bay it is a paradise for the beachcomber. This route brings us past the coastal village of Ballyconneely, or can be made shorter by taking the locally known ‘Bog Road’. The surrounding bog is unique in that it is an unspoiled area of bogscape with rare acid-loving plants.

You will arrive back at your starting destination of Clifden where you will spend your last night getting a second chance to enjoy the 'craic' in this vibrant, friendly town.

Day 7

Breakfast, followed by fond farewell and departure!

The B&B option means you will get to stay in a family home where the personal touch and attention to detail is second to none. A true Irish welcome awaits you as well as home-cooked food, comfort and a taste of traditional Irish life.

While you may be staying in part of the family home this does not mean that you will not have privacy and high standards of accommodation you require. Cosy rooms, modern facilities and care and attention are what these properties excel in.

When you select this tour you will have the chance to stay in either hotels or B&B/guesthouse accommodation. The 3* hotels that have been selected are all comfortable, well-appointed properties which also boast their own character and style. You may find yourself in a historic manor house hotel, one with a modern twist or get a 'room with a view' overlooking a shimmering lake or a golden beach.

However they all share the same high standards of hospitality and service and will guarantee you a warm welcome, good food and a relaxing experience after your day on the road.
