Day 1

Arrive in Clifden

You will make your way to your first night's accommodation at the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel in Clifden (there are daily buses from Galway to Clifden). This is a very unique place to start your tour of Connemara. A castle hotel secluded in lush, private grounds but also located in close proximity to Clifden town, the “Capital of Connemara”. Clifden is bursting with culture, traditional music, quaint streets and cosy pubs and restaurants. At the Abbeyglen you will be able to experience the best of town and country in a property that is run with every care and attention to making you feel welcome and at home.

We will meet you either on the evening of arrival or the following morning (depending on your arrival time) to go through your itinerary and answer any questions you have about your tour. All bikes and equipment will be delivered to your hotel and we will make sure that everything fits you perfectly!

Day 2

Clifden to Renvyle

The second day will bring you via the Sky Road from Clifden to the Renvyle Peninsula where you will spend your second night in the Renvyle House Hotel. The Sky Road brings you to the very edge of Connemara with soaring views over the rocky Atlantic coastline. Pausing at the vantage points you will be able to see all of Clifden Bay and its many islands stretching out before you. Your arrival at Renvyle House will be greeted by their unique friendliness and warmth. Renvyle House is an historic country house hotel, situated in the untouched splendour of Connemara on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is located on 150 acres, which include a private lake, a 9-hole golf course, a beach, woodlands, gardens and numerous activities on site. It is an award-winning hotel for hospitality and delights in encouraging its guests to do as little or as much as they wish. Some of the leisure facilities you will find on the grounds of Renvyle House Hotel include free golf, tennis, swimming pool, fly-fishing, snooker and croquet, with clay pigeon shooting also available at a charge per guest. Along the way you will be passing by the Connemara National Park in the village of Letterfrack. If you have time you could have a walk in the park or take a look at the informative visitor centre.

Day 3

Renvyle to Delphi

Making your way from the Renvyle peninsula you will pass through the pretty village of Tullycross with its traditional thatched cottages. You will soon come to Kylemore Abbey, one of Ireland’s top visitor attractions. This gothic-style castle was built in 1867 and boasts one of Ireland's finest gardens. The six-acre Victorian walled garden at Kylemore was created by Mitchell Henry in tandem with the building of Kylemore Castle. Until recently Kylemore Abbey housed a girl's boarding school. Leaving Kylemore you will experience the full majesty of the Twelve Bens mountain range as you pass beneath their brooding peaks. Killary Harbour, reputed to be Ireland's only fjord, and certainly its most dramatic, will appear beside you as you round a corner. You will follow the fjord close by the water's edge to bring you from Co Galway into Co Mayo and on into the Delphi Valley. Completely surrounded by mountains you will feel protected from the intrusions of the outside world for your stay at the Delphi Mountain Resort. Quiet colours, natural materials and a tranquil atmosphere will greet you at this sensitively designed four star resort. While there you can enjoy a stroll through the woods or a visit to their award-winning spa.

Day 4

Delphi to Westport

Leaving the Delphi Valley you will wind your way alongside Doolough (the dark, deep lake) past rugged, unpopulated landscapes to bring you to the coastal town of Louisburgh. There you will witness the gentle pace of a small agricultural west of Ireland town conducting its daily business. The road then continues along the shores of Clew Bay in the impressive shadow of the holy mountain of Croagh Patrick, continuing on to the charming town of Westport. Your stay in Westport will be at the Westport Plaza hotel. The Plaza is an opulent, modern hotel which offers all of the luxuries and facilities that you could want while still run as part of a family business with a personal touch and a long history of hospitality in the west of Ireland. The Gold Experience at the Plaza includes an hour in their inspirational thermal suite allowing you to cleanse the road from your body and mind.
