Step 1: Getting to Ireland from UK/USA/France

Please note that flights are not included as part of your tour package. You will need to organise your own flights.

Ryanair  fly from Alicante, Faro, Barcelona - Reus, Frankfurt - Hahn,  Paris - Beauvais, Bristol, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London Stansted & London Luton. 

BMI baby fly from Birmingham & Manchester 

Aer Lingus fly from London Gatwick.

 

Shannon Airport 

Aer Lingus fly from Boston, London Heathrow, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, New York (JFK) & Glasgow.

Cork Airport

Flights to and from France 

 

Ireland West Knock is served by Ryanair on the Paris - Beauvais route 

Shannon airport is approximately one hour from Galway city, and is served from France by Aer Lingus and Ryanair.

Dublin airport is served by all major airlines and is located approximately 2 hours from Galway city. Visit Aer Lingus, Ryanair and Air France.

Step 2: Getting from your arrival port/airport to your Connemara Starting Point

 

From Dublin:

 

  • From Dublin to Leenane Starting Point

Option 1: Visit www.irishrail.ie for a train timetable to Westport. Or take a bus www.buseireann.ie

From Westport, you will need to take a taxi to Leenane; approximate cost of €50 - €60.

Journey time is approximately 5 - 6 hours.

 

Option 2: You can take a bus or train to Galway city www.irishrail.ie  www.buseireann.ie then take a bus to the nearby town of Letterfrack. Visit www.citylink.ie for a daily bus timetable from Galway city to Letterfrack.

You will need to take a taxi from Letterfrack to Leenane; approximate cost €15 - €20.

Journey time is approximately 5 - 6 hours.

  • From Dublin to Westport Starting Point

Visit www.irishrail.ie for a daily train timetable to Westport.

Journey time is approximately 4 - 5 hours.

 

 

From Shannon:

 

  • From Shannon airport to Leenane Starting Point

A bus service is available from Shannon airport to Galway city. www.buseireann.ie  From Galway city, you can take a bus directly to the the nearby Connemara town of Letterfrack. www.citylink.ie

From Letterfrack, you will need to take a taxi to Leenane; approximate cost of €15 - €20.

Journey time is approximately 3 - 4 hours.

 

  •  From Shannon airport to Clifden Starting Point 

 Visit www.buseireann.ie for details of bus service from the airport to Galway city. From Galway city, there is a direct bus service to Clifden. Visit www.citylink.ie or www.buseireann.ie for timetables.

 Journey time is approximately 3 - 4 hours

 

 

From Knock Airport:

 

  •  From Knock airport to Leenane Starting Point

 Visit www.buseireann for a timetable from the airport to Westport. From Westport, take a taxi; approximate cost €50 - €60

 Journey time is approximately 3.5 - 4.5 hours.

 

  • From Knock airport to Westport Starting Point

 Visit www.buseireann.ie for a timetable from the airport to Westport.

 

  • From Knock airport to Clifden Starting Point

 Visit www.buseireann.ie for bus timetable from the airport to Galway city.  There is a direct bus service to from Galway city to Clifden. Visit www.citylink.ie or www.buseireann.ie for timetables.
