Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive to Leenane

You will be picked up from Galway City, Westport train station or Knock Airport and brought to your accommodation in the little village of Leenane. Overlooking Killary Harbour, Ireland's only fjord, the village has one of the most scenic locations in Ireland. Once you have settled in, we will meet you, either on the evening of your arrival or the following morning (depending on your arrival time), to go through your itinerary and answer any questions you may have about your tour.

Day 2

Adventure & Discovery Day!

Today is a full day of adventure activity! Following a hearty breakfast you will take your bicycles and cycle a short distance (5 kms) to the renowned Killary Adventure Centre on the shores of Killary Harbour where you will have the choice to spend the morning either sea kayaking on Ireland's only fjord or by taking on the High Ropes Course and trying out the Giant Swing! A tasty homemade lunch will be set up for you on site before you will jump on your bike again for a short distance (5 kms) to go and visit Tom's farm, the "Killary Sheep Farm". With entry included in your package you will visit this traditional working mountain farm with approx 200 ewes and lambs roaming freely on the mountainside, overlooking Killary Fjord. The farm runs mainly blackface horned sheep which are most suited to survive on the mountains during the harsh winters. You will have the chance to view sheepdog, sheep shearing and turf cutting demonstrations. After your action-packed, fun-filled day you will return to Leenane village to enjoy a well deserved rest and the peace and tranquillity this lovely village has to offer.

Day 3

Leenane to Renvyle 25km

After breakfast, your destination today is the Renvyle Peninsula. Your route takes you past the Killary Cruise where you will have the chance to take an hour and half boat trip along Ireland's only fjord. You will find out loads of information about the history and the activities of the Killary Fjord. Following your boat trip you will continue your journey along the coast road with wonderful views over the ocean and skirting along pristine white sandy beaches, where a beach picnic would be the perfect hiatus, before travelling on to your accommodation in Renvyle and enjoying traditional west of Ireland hospitality at its best.

Day 4

Renvyle Peninsula, Connemara National Park & Kylemore Abbey

Today you have the opportunity to spend more time at the beach, explore the Renvyle Peninsula further, venture into the nearby village of Letterfrack and visit the Connemara National Park or continue on to visit one of the top visitor attractions in the West of Ireland - Kylemore Abbey. At Kylemore Abbey there is so much for all the family to enjoy. You can visit the restored rooms of the Abbey and learn about its history and tales of tragedy and romance. You can also explore the 6 acre Victorian Walled Garden with its magnificent restored buildings. Discover woodland walks, lakeshore walks, nature trails and children's play trail throughout the 1,000 acre estate. Return for a second night at your accommodation to get ready for your next big day on the road! There is also the added option of horseriding on the beach in the nearby village of Cleggan for an extra charge.

Day 5

Renvyle to Clifden (including Sky Road) 38km

After another delicious breakfast you take to the road with Clifden as your destination for today. Clifden is a colourful small town, also known as the Capital of Connemara. Your journey today will take you through Letterfrack and later through the small fishing village of Cleggan where you can stop off for lunch. Leaving Cleggan you will follow the coast and will have the chance to cycle one of the most beautiful roads in the country, the Sky Road, before arriving in Clifden for your final night. Clifden is a lively spot where you will find good shopping, restaurants and lots of traditional music.

Day 6

Breakfast and departure

Accommodation

The B&B option means you will get to stay in a family home where the personal touch and attention to detail is second to none. A true Irish welcome awaits you as well as home-cooked food, comfort and a taste of traditional Irish life.

While you may be staying in part of the family home this does not mean that you will not have privacy and high standards of accommodation you require. Cosy rooms, modern facilities and care and attention are what these properties excel in.

When you select this tour you will have the chance to stay in either hotels or B&B/guesthouse accommodation. The 3* hotels that have been selected are all comfortable, well-appointed properties which also boast their own character and style. You may find yourself in a historic manor house hotel, one with a modern twist or get a 'room with a view' overlooking a shimmering lake or a golden beach.

However they all share the same high standards of hospitality and service and will guarantee you a warm welcome, good food and a relaxing experience after your day on the road.
