There are green roads, tracks of former horse and cart roads, walking paths, and sometimes you will have to walk over the open ground - waymarkers will show you the way. Almost all of the walks are low level walks along rivers, lakes, the Atlantic Ocean , through woods, and along the feet of mountains in the valleys. This is truly the way to discover a land steeped in history along faded tracks that echo of ancient times. You will eat your lunch with some of Ireland 's most beautiful scenery as a backdrop. Our ten day Into the West tour introduces walkers to some of the most beautiful parts of the Connemara wilderness in Galway and the scenic coastline of West Mayo in the West of Ireland. The route, which follows much of the Western Way, starts in Oughterard, a famous angling village on the shores of Lough Corrib in Galway.
This is a splendid trip along Irelands Western Coastline where as part of the trip you visit and walk three beautiful islands of the Western Coast, starting with Clare Island off the coast of Mayo, Inishbofin off the coast of Connemara and Inishmore, the biggest of the Aran Islands off the coast of Galway. You will also get to climb Croagh Patrick, which is Irelands Holy Mountain, and along by the Famine Track as you overlook Irelands only fjord the Killary Fjord. On this trip you will get a glimpse of some dramatic scenery and the opportunity to meet real Irish characters.
