Day 1

Arrive Leenane

You will be picked up from Galway City and brought to your accommodation in the little village of Leenane. Overlooking Killary Harbour, Ireland's only fjord, the village has one of the most scenic locations in Ireland. Once you have settled in, we will meet you, either on the evening of arrival or the following morning (depending on your arrival time), to go through your itinerary and answer any questions you have about your tour.

Day 2

Famine Trail

This morning you will be transferred by taxi to Rosroe, the start of the Famine Trail. The Famine Trail is a two to three hour hike along the shore of Ireland’s only Fjord. The walk features dramatic coastal landscapes, the majestic Mweelrea mountain, bog land and stunning views. You will pass by the Killary Sheep Farm and the terrain includes small road, rocky trail and boggy track. You can choose to stop at the Killary Sheep Farm where you can view sheepdog, sheep shearing and turf cutting demonstrations. Tom, the owner, welcomes visitors of all ages and looks forward to introducing you to sheep and dog demonstrations. Demonstrations are held at 11 am, 1pm, 3pm and 6pm Tuesday to Sunday. You will then follow the track all the way back to Leenane village where you can enjoy a well-deserved relaxing evening in the village!

Day 3

Adventure Day!

Today is a full day of adventure activity! Following a hearty breakfast we will deliver bicycles to you so that you can cycle (5 kms one way) to the long-established adventure centre on the shores of Killary Harbour where you will go Sea Kayaking on Ireland's only fjord, take on the High Ropes Course and try out the Giant Swing!  A tasty homemade lunch will be set up for you on site. After your action-packed, fun-filled day you will return to Leenane village by bike to enjoy all the peace and tranquillity this lovely village has to offer. You will also have the chance to cycle all the way to the Ashleagh Falls if you still have some energy – 5 kms away from Leenane village to finish your day.

Day 4

When you select this tour you will have the chance to stay in either hotels or B&B/guesthouse accommodation. The 3* hotels that have been selected are all comfortable, well-appointed properties which also boast their own character and style. You may find yourself in a historic manor house hotel, one with a modern twist or get a 'room with a view' overlooking a shimmering lake or a golden beach.

However they all share the same high standards of hospitality and service and will guarantee you a warm welcome, good food and a relaxing experience after your day on the road.

All prices are in Euro, and based on per person sharing. Per person sharing means two people in one room. Children’s price is based on two adults travelling.

We provide children's bicycles with gears, and 21 speed-bicycles for the adults (we would advise children to bring their own helmets if possible).
